Our 24/7 trauma center is fully staffed with board-certified trauma surgeons and a team of experienced professionals. When you come to our hospital, you have fast access to emergency surgery.
Features of our trauma center
We are proud to be recognized as an Adult Level I Trauma Center and a Pediatric Level II Trauma Center. As a nationally verified and state-accredited trauma center, we provide comprehensive injury care, including stabilization, rehabilitation and prevention. We also:
- Act as a referral resource for nearby communities
- Have 24/7 availability of specialists in surgery, emergency medicine, critical care, internal medicine, radiology and anesthesiology
- Provide substance abuse screening and patient intervention programs
In addition, we provide leadership in education prevention through community events, continued education for trauma team members, research projects and residency programs.
Pediatric trauma center
Our state-designated pediatric trauma center provides services specifically designed for children, offering highly specialized care when your child needs it most. We also have a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) if your child needs the medical care of our experienced team.

Our team provides care in three dedicated trauma bays in our emergency room (ER). This trauma team includes:
- Board-certified trauma surgeons
- Emergency medicine physicians
- Neurosurgeons
- Specially trained critical care and emergency nurses
Our trauma care experts also work closely with emergency medical service (EMS) providers to deliver coordinated, specialized treatment as quickly as possible.
Victory lap
Grand Strand Medical Center offers trauma patients the opportunity to celebrate the one-year anniversary of their recovery with a "victory lap" at our facility. During the lap, the patient and their loved ones will learn more about the care they received and meet with providers that helped along the way. To request a lap, please fill out this form.
