Comprehensive heartburn care
Our acid reflux specialists use leading-edge diagnostic tests to better understand your condition and build a treatment plan personalized to your needs.
Diagnostic testing we provide
If you are experiencing frequent heartburn or acid reflux, we offer many diagnostic tests, including:
- Barium swallow exam — An X-ray examination to visualize the back of the mouth and throat.
- Bravo pH monitoring — A minimally invasive test to assess whether acid from the stomach is refluxing into the esophagus.
- Endoscopy — A procedure that utilizes an endoscope to examine the inside of the body.
- Esophageal manometry — A test designed to identify issues with pressure and movement in the esophagus.
GERD and acid reflux treatments
To help manage your symptoms and improve your digestive health, your GI specialist may recommend dietary changes, lifestyle adjustments and over-the-counter medication. If surgery is needed, we provide the following treatment options:
- Heller myotomy — A minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat achalasia, a disorder of the esophagus that makes it difficult for food and liquids to pass into the stomach.
- Laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication — This minimally invasive procedure aims to restore the function of the lower esophageal sphincter by wrapping the stomach around the esophagus.
- Lower esophageal sphincter augmentation — During this procedure, a small device called a LINX is implanted to tighten the opening of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) and prevent reflux, allowing you to eat normally.
- Radiofrequency ablation — A procedure where the inner lining of the esophagus containing precancerous cells is removed using high-frequency radio waves.
